#226 - I Want to Retire
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I want to retire. I worked hard and enjoyed a lengthy career. Now it's time for me. Golf. Travel. Reading. Hobbies. Whatever I feel like doing whenever I feel like doing it and wherever I feel like doing it. In other words, I finally want to act like my own god. Father, my words make me sound like my heart is all about me. My words sound like my heart believes my career, serving others, has been the great impediment to my personal enjoyment. Father, I don't believe this kind of attitude is pleasing to You. If I can think, speak, and get around, there are lives to be touched. I still have skills and talents, though they may be diminished by age. Father, most importantly, I should have more wisdom today than I've ever had in my life. I've been through a lifetime of lessons. I've had a lifetime of a walk with You. Father, young people need the wisdom that You have given me through experience. They don't need my technical know-how. They need character, character that they may not have learned in their childhood. They need to know how to make the right decisions, decisions that are based on wisdom and not mathematical formulas. Father, give me a second career. May this be the career where I give wise counsel to individuals, groups, and communities that are staffed by younger people. I'm not ready to retire after all. You still have work for me to do. Amen.
