#259 - Errands
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I have errands to do today. Pay a bill. Take the cat to the veterinarian. Buy some things at the grocery store. Pick up a suit from the dry cleaner. Seemingly insignificant things to do. However, these errands can be mood changing (if not life changing). There could be a car accident. There could be a bank robbery while I am at the ATM. A driver may chase me down the street in a road rage incident. I may hit a pot hole and blow my tire. I could come out of a store and see a large dent in my car side door. The waiting line at the registry of motor vehicles office might go around the block (in the rain). These things are likely to sour my day. They are likely to change my mood. They are likely to make me irritable and aggravated, just in time for my innocent child to accidentally spill something that stains by new carpet. Father, I need You in my life because I cannot control my heart. When I'm worn down by irritating circumstances I can become raw and mean-spirited. Instead of being a blessing to a friend or a stranger, I become a jerk. Father, forgive me of my rebellion from You. Help me to surrender my life to You so that Your Holy Spirit will fill me with love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, mercy, compassion, generosity, patience, and perseverance. I will then be able to laugh off these aggravations as simply being life in a broken world. Father, I ask for divine appointments today as I do my errands. Bring a stranger into my life who needs the love of God. May I be ready for that moment emotionally and spiritually. May their life be blessed after they accidentally crashed their grocery shopping cart into mine. Amen.
