#261 - It's Bone Chilling Cold Outside
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, it feels like 500 degrees below zero. It is ungodly cold outside. Now that I think about it, that's not a bad choice of words. Coldness and heat are a metaphor for our closeness with You. Your Word states there will be no need for the sun in heaven because You are there. Your Son, Jesus Christ, is the light of mankind. You are surrounded by unapproachable light. The light and warmth of the sun is a metaphor for our relationship with You. When You are close, we are warm. When You are farther away, we are colder. When we experience a season of adversity, it can seem like the night when temperatures drop. If that season lasts a long time it can seem like winter. Father, I thank You for the reminder today that I need the warmth of a close relationship with You. I don't need a blanket, hot chocolate, or a fire in the wood stove if You are present in my heart. I have plenty of warmth and I'm feeling quite comfortable. How do I stay spiritually warm? I confess my rebellion to You in the name of Jesus Christ. I surrender my life to You each day. I give the Holy Spirit freedom to transform my heart. When I do these things, I will feel the warmth of Your love no matter how cold life can get. Father, as for the weather today, please help my body get through it. I wouldn't mind a cozy blanket and hot chocolate by the way. Amen.
