Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I live in a world where medical technology has made great advances. Doctors can effectively treat many ailments thanks to the medicines, medical devices, and medical processes You have given to us. Thank You. However, this medical technology is expensive to develop, maintain, and distribute. A trip to a specialist can cost hundreds. A short stay in the hospital can cost thousands of dollars. Given our bodies are prone to illness, disease, and injury, we can expect to incur expensive medical bills in our life. Therefore, our society has developed health insurance. We pay a monthly premium and the insurance companies pay a sizable percentage of our medical bills. Father, this system fails when someone like me can't afford the monthly premium. This system fails when someone like me can't afford even the residual hospital bills. I was injured and in excruciating pain. I tried to avoid going to the hospital. I wasn't insured. I couldn't afford the bills. However, my family couldn't take seeing me in so much pain. 9-1-1 was called. I ended up being admitted to the hospital. While I thank You for my subsequent recovery, I am now hounded by collectors demanding I pay my hospital bills. Father, this is exactly what I didn't want to happen. Father, I need You to deliver me from this debt. I need medical insurance that I can afford each month. Above all things, I need to stay healthy. Father, I ask that since I can't afford medical care that You will keep me from the need for medical care. If I am in medical crisis, I pray for a miracle that doesn't require medical care. If I will need medical care, I pray You will provide for me in amazing ways. Father, this is another illustration that You are God and I am not. Help me surrender my life to You. Amen.
