Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, each one of us has asked the question - why am I here? We want our lives to have purpose and meaning. We want our lives to be part of a larger plan. We don't want our existence to be some random statistical anomaly, a roll of the dice. Father, do we not want that for our nation too? Is our country here because of coincidence? Or, is our country here because You gave birth to it? Father, I believe You planned for the creation of the United States of America thousands of years ago. This nation exists because You deliberately engineered its creation. This nation has prospered through the centuries because of the role You have wanted it to play in the world. What nation has been more generous and compassionate to people in need around the globe? We have freed people from tyranny. We have rushed to help victims of disaster. We have been very generous with foreign aid. Is this nation perfect? Far from it. In fact, there are many reasons why our nation deserves Your fierce discipline. We have turned from You. We have wanted to be our own god. We have not only doubted Your character, we have doubted Your existence. We have worshipped other things more than You, including our government. However, You continue to use this broken and rusty tool in Your garden. Father, thank You for using the US to bring hope to people around the world. I ask that You heal our wounds, change our ways, and turn the hearts of our people to You. May this land be the light of compassion and grace around the world and may all know why it is - because we are a people who have surrendered our lives to You. Amen.
