#531 - My Loved One is Dying
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, my loved one is dying. I'm in intolerable grief. I don't want to lose them. I can't imagine life without them. However, Father, as painful as this is for me, I'm not the one who is dying. They are. Father, give me strength to be strong for him or her. It will be my time to grieve after they are gone. I ask that You surround me with Your compassion, mercy, and grace at the right time. However, right now, I need to focus on their needs. Help me to give them hope for life after death by sharing Your love for them. - Help me to let them know their loved ones will be fine in Your loving care. - Help me to listen to them, letting them talk about anything they want. - Help me to serve them, doing whatever I can to get things done for them. - Help me to spend time with them, talking for hour after hour, watching a movie, playing a game, or walking by the lake. - Help me to resolve any differences or conflict I have with them. May the Holy Spirit, working through me, make our last moments together loving. Father, this is about them, not about me. May I not allow my own grief to become more important to me than their dealing with the end of their life. Amen.
