#595 - Our Children Are Suffering with Our Divorce
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, this is hell. I am getting divorced from the spouse I had pledged to love until my dying day. My best friend has turned into my enemy. Our love has turned into bitterness and resentment. The love of my life has brought devastation into my life. However, I weep at what this divorce is doing to the children. The precious children. They didn't deserve this. They deserved a dad and mom who loved each other. They deserved a dad and mom who were faithful to one another. They deserved a dad and mom who were devoted to giving their best to their kids. My spouse and I have failed. Father, forgive us. Have mercy on the children. Give them hope, strength, and peace. Father, forgive me in the name of Jesus Christ for all my rebellion. I surrender my life to You. I ask that the Holy Spirit transform my heart and soul so I will be the best I can be for my children. Make me faithful, devoted, gracious, kind, loving, and sacrificial. Make me compassionate, empathetic, generous, merciful, strong, and persevering. Give me incredible wisdom. Father, help me not to take sides or to bad mouth my spouse. Help me not to ask the kids to give me information about my spouse. They need to maintain their bond with both of their parents. Help my kids to see I'll do anything to save the family. Help them to see that I'll do anything to protect them. Father, help me to stop fighting with my spouse. Make me a peacemaker in the home. Help me to make life as routine as possible for the children. Help me to keep them informed so that they are not surprised by things. They need stability. Father, please forgive me and have mercy on the children for what their parents have done. Amen.
