#159 - I Struggle with My Body Image
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I'm looking in the mirror. I am so unattractive. I don't like my hair, face, complexion, or body. I am ashamed of what I look like. I feel inferior to others. Every day our culture screams at me, telling me I don't measure up to their ideal of perfection. I used to be ashamed to go out in public. However, now I just give up. I'm not even going to try anymore. Father, Your Word tells us that Jesus Christ was not physically attractive. There was nothing physically desirable about Him. He was despised and rejected by other people. However, no one in the history of the world has been more adored and beloved. We marvel at what He did out of love for humans. It is His loving, compassionate, generous, kind, and merciful character that makes Him so beautiful to us. Father, plastic surgery, makeup, new clothes, a new hairstyle, skin treatments, and weight loss can be very expensive. Such makeovers need to be repeated. This is beyond the budget of most of us. However, every human being is fully capable of a character makeover and that kind of makeover has no charge. How does our character become adorable? We confess we have been rebels from You. We confess that we have tried to be our own gods. We confess we have doubted You. We confessed we have worshipped other gods. We surrender our lives to You each day. We inquire of the Lord throughout each day. We trust You to provide and protect us. We love You with all our heart, soul, and mind. What happens when we do this? Our characters miraculously begin to transform. We become exceedingly attractive to others, especially to those who need love in their lives. Father, let me look in the spiritual mirror today and see the beautiful man or woman of God I can become. Amen.
