#361 - I Have Assaulted Someone Else
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I have physically attacked someone. It may have been a family member, a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor, or a stranger. They are bruised, battered, and bleeding. They have torn muscles. They have a concussion. They may have internal injuries. They may be receiving treatment with a Band-Aid or they may be on life support in the ICU. Father, there was a rage inside of me that I could not control. Where did that rage come from? I am totally frustrated with how I cannot control my life. Nothing works out for me. I can't make life go the way I want it to go. Things always go wrong. I am trying so hard to be my own god but I'm realizing how much I can't do it. People don't do, say, or think what I want them to do. They ignore me. Without Your presence in my life, calming me and giving me hope, the frustrations build like a boiling tea kettle. At some point, they explode. I can't attack the wind or the thunderstorm. However, I can attack a person or damage their property. Add drugs or alcohol to the mix, eliminating any sense of restraint, I end up on the receiving end of handcuffs and a ride to the police station. It's not an anger management problem. It's my rebellion from You. I need to surrender my heart to You. I am not my own god. You are. Father, forgive me of my rebellion in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to surrender my life to You. Transform me by Your Holy Spirit, filling me with love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, kindness, compassion, mercy, grace, and self-control. With such fruit, I will never hurt a person like this again. In the meantime, I deserve the punishment coming to me. Please help me get through it. Please bring complete physical, spiritual, and emotional healing to my victim. Amen.
