#559 - I'm Single and I Struggle with Lust
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, I'm single. I have sexual desires. I'm sick and tired of people telling me I'm not to lust, especially when that is said to me by those who are married. I have a pornography problem. But I'm alone. What am I supposed to do? You made me with a body that longs for sex. Father, we believe we cannot control our desires. We believe we must act on them. If our hearts want something, we must have it. We are prisoners to our cravings. They rule us. We use it as an excuse for our behavior. "I can't help myself!" However, our excuse falls apart under the light of Your Word. In Galatians 5:22-23 we learn that the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Self-control. In other words, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can control our cravings and desires. How do we get the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts? We confess our rebellion and daily surrender our lives to You. Father, help me to do that. May I become a man or woman of the Word. May I become a man or woman of prayer. May You become my first love. May I develop a deep love for my neighbors. I need the Holy Spirit to give me the traits that a godly mate will be attracted to. - I must love You with all my heart, soul, and mind. - I must love Your Word. - I must be devoted to prayer. - I must have compassion for people. - I must be a good communicator. - I must be growing emotionally and spiritually. Father, make me the man or woman You want me to be. Please bring a mate who will love these attributes in me. May we become best friends. May we make a lifetime commitment. May we enjoy amazing sexual intimacy. Amen.
