#125 - Suffering and Free Will
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, how often do we humans accuse You of being cruel? Indifferent? Incompetent? We know how to be god better than You. There should be no tragedies. There should be no suffering. Everyone should be happy. However, each of us wants our free will. We want to be our own little gods. Don't tell us what to think or say. Don't make us do anything we don't want to do. Don't stop us from doing anything that we want to do. Eight billion little gods doing as they see fit, without moral restraint, is a world of chaos and suffering. Father, we ask You to step out of the way and let us do whatever we want. However, we ask You to prevent the other guy from doing anything wrong to us. We want free will but we don't want the other guy to have it. Suffering in this world is the fault of human beings who have rebelled from You. Your command is simple - love You with all our heart and soul and love our neighbor as our self. If we would do that, suffering would be hard to find and we would have the peace we all long for. Father, help me to love You will all my heart, soul, and mind and then to love my neighbor as myself. When I do, I will stop contributing, by my free will, to the suffering in this world. Amen.
