#153 - I Was in a Car Accident
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I keep hearing that sound of the screeching brakes, crumpling metal, breaking class, and the screaming. The sudden pain in my body. Feeling trapped in the car. The fear of smoke and flames. The bystanders looking at the car, too frightened and uncertain about their own courage to help. Sirens. Flashing lights. Floodlights. Jaws of life. Emergency radio. I was extricated. I am alive. I will recover from my injuries. However, the emotional trauma will take a longer time to heal. It's like it happened one minute ago. I'm anxious about being in a car. Father, before that accident, I had taken life for granted. Sure, I'll do this or that today and more tomorrow. My friends will pick me up and we will go out to dinner. God who? Why pray to God about my plans? Why pray to God about protection? Why ask God for provision? My life has been on auto-pilot and good luck and my good judgment are all that I need. Father, I now know how fragile my life is. Here today, gone tomorrow. Able to walk today, paralyzed tomorrow. I am not my own god. I couldn't protect myself from harm. You need to be my God. I need to surrender to You. I need to ask You to watch over my coming and my going each day. I need to ask You to watch over my schedule and my to-do list. I need Your protection and provision. Father, may Your blessings be generous on the other victims in the car accident and on the surviving families of those who didn't live. Father, forgive the driver who lost control of their car because of carelessness. May what they did be a wakeup call to responsibility for all of us. Amen.
