#186 - I'm Struggling with My Gender Identity
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I am a male who wishes he was a female. I am a female who wishes she was a male. I am envious of the people who are the other gender. They have a better life. They get to experience every day the life I wish I had. Why do I feel this way? I am searching for the truth. What are the possibilities? - Something happened in my mother's womb and my gender identity was misaligned to my sex assignment. - Something happened in my childhood experience that altered my gender identification. - I hate the person I am. I want to become someone entirely different. Changing my gender is the most drastic step I can take. Father, as I wrestle with why I long to be the opposite gender, I must ask myself who You are and how You relate to my gender identity. - You are God. You had a plan for my life and I was born with the gender You intended me to have. - You are God. You had a plan for my life to be the gender of my birth. However, something went wrong in the womb or during my childhood. You offer to help me heal and to embrace the man or woman You created me to be in my mother's womb. - You are God. You had a plan for my life to be the gender of my birth. Something went wrong in the womb or during my childhood. I don't like who I am. There's nothing You or I can do about it. Feeling sympathy for me, You allow me to do whatever I want with my gender identity. - You are God. However, You are disengaged not only from what takes place in the womb but also what happens in my life. You are a spectator. You say "whatever" regarding my gender identity. It doesn't matter to You. - You don't exist. Therefore, I am the god of my life and I can do with it as I please. Father, my gender identity has everything to do with who I think You are. It is a question of faith. It is a question of theology. As I consider my next step, help me to explore the spiritual aspects of my gender identification. If I want Your blessings in my life, I need to make sure my decisions are in alignment with Your will. Father, help me to understand that my gender decisions are a statement about who I think You are. Amen.
