#305 - I'm Joining the Military
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God
Dear Father, there is someone I'm jealous of. They have something I don't have. I want what they have. It isn't fair that they have it and I don't. Father, if I could steal it, I would. I want to have it and I want to deprive them of having it. However, I'm afraid of getting caught. My parents. School administrators. The police. Authority. I don't want to get in trouble and, therefore, I don't steal. Powerful authority figures are a deterrent to bad behavior. This is the point of our military. We are a deterrent to the bad behavior of people from foreign countries. They don't want to get caught, with their hands in the cookie jar, by our military strength. Father, we not only protect the rights and the property of our citizens, we also protect the rights and the property of citizens of other nations. I'm joining the military. Army. Navy. Air Force. Marines. Coast Guard. I'm signing up to defend my nation. It is an honor to be a part of a military force that was intended, by You, to make sure nations have good character. You intended a strong military to insure justice and to keep bullies away from the innocent. Father, thank You for the honor of defending and protecting what is right. I do so at the risk of my own life. I do so at the risk of being wounded. It is courageous. It is honorable. Father, make me a soldier who honors You, who reflects the work of the Holy Spirit. May I be loving, kind, generous, merciful, gracious, compassionate, patient, and persevering to the men and women who serve with me and to all those around the world who are innocent and in need. However, may I put the fear of God into evil people around the world who want to hurt the innocent. We are coming after them. Father, please protect me - emotionally, spiritually, and physically as I join the military. Amen.
