#346 - I'm a Thief
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, the world revolves around me. I am at the center of the universe. I must have what I want when I want it. My desires must be satisfied - immediately. My love of myself is so strong that I have no interest in the welfare of anybody else. Everyone, everyone, everyone exists to please me. I have no concept of living my life to be a blessing to other people. I have no concept of the responsibility of being part of a larger community. I have no concept of cooperation, compassion, empathy, and generosity. I have no concept of honor, dignity, and nobility of character. All I know is that I want it and I want it now. I steal without regard to who it effects and how it affects them. I will steal property. I will steal time. I will even steal someone's joy and happiness. "Thou shalt not steal". It's not just a commandment for the sake of innocent victims. It is a commandment forbidding rebellion. If I'm willing to steal, it most likely means I'm on the throne of my life, calling the shots, and living for my own immediate gratification. Father, forgive my rebellion and the stealing that comes from it. Help me not only to earn that which I acquire but also to give back that which I've stolen as a humble act of submission to the true living God. Amen.
