#369 - I Prefer Comfort
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I love comfort. No pain. No soreness. No cold. No heat. No stress. No worry. No craving unsatisfied. No desire unrealized. Delights. Treats. Aromas. Tastes. Soothing oil. A gentle cool breeze. A warm blanket. Good news. Kind words from a friend. An unexpected check in the mail. Bliss. Joy. Contentment. Heaven on earth. This is what I want. This is what I desire so much. It is so critical that I experience comfort, I'll gladly take the last banana on the deserted island, leaving the other castaways to starve. I'll sign up for nothing that may cause me any difficulty whatsoever. I'll invest in the massage treatment at the expense of a gift to a charity. Father, I am either seriously believing I am my own god or I lack any courage whatsoever. A true man or woman of God sacrifices for others. Pain. Soreness. Cold. Heat. Exhaustion. Concerns. Hunger. Thirst. We get bruised and battered. Our bones get broken. Our clothes get torn and stained. We work all night in hellish conditions. We deny our own desires. We do all of this to love others in crisis. We do this in Your name because You love people. Father, help me surrender to You, to repent of being my own god, so that I love others more than myself. Give me the courage I need to suffer for the needs of others. Amen.
