#493 - I Hate Christmas - Part 2
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, my family was dysfunctional, corrupt, and foul. We hated each other. We hated our lives. We hated our neighbors. We hated Christmas. However, he walked into our lives. He shoveled our driveway. He repaired a broken window. He brought us a meal. He brought us a blanket on a winter night as the police made an arrest. He drove my drunk sibling home from the park. He cleaned up the vomit from an outdoor party that got out of control. He listened to my dad as he wept with his head in his hands. Who are you? Why are you showing my family love? I am a believer in Jesus Christ. Let me tell you my story. I hated Christmas. I was beaten by my father. My mother was a drug addict. I was a foster child, bounced from family to family. I was in and out of juvenile detention. I was addicted to drugs and alcohol. One day, someone came into my life. This person showed me all kinds of godly love. They were compassionate, kind, and generous. I learned that we humans rebel from God. We want to do things our own way. We have fired God and replaced Him with ourselves. We mess up our lives. We deserve eternal death for what we have done. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to pay the penalty for our rebellion. He died and rose again from the dead to free us. I've watched from next door how your family has suffered. There is so much pain. My heart breaks for you. But there is hope. I suffered too but I am now at peace. I know joy. I have emotional stability. I have everything I need. I feel safe and secure.Jesus came into my heart. He brought me new life. He gave to me what Christmas was all about. Are you ready to enjoy Christmas? Father, one man loved my family. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Year after year. He loved us in Your name. One by one, we came to faith in Your Son. So, this is Christmas. What have You done? You sent Your Son to die for the rebellion of my family. We thank You as we hold hands to pray around the Christmas tree. We praise You as we sing Christmas carols. We talk about how our lives have been transformed as we open our gifts. No more bitterness. No more hatred. No more drunkenness. No more drugs. No more crime. This is wonderful, marvelous, and amazing Christmas. Merry Christmas, my Father. May Your will be done. Amen.
