#533 - Loved One Died After Lengthy Battle to Live
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, my loved one has died. I had to be strong for them while they were still alive. However, now it is time for me to grieve. Help me to be kind to myself. My grief for this person will be unique to me and I need to give myself the freedom to express it as I need to. Help me to accept help from other people. I am in need. I ask that the Holy Spirit comfort me through the care and the wisdom of others. Help me to be vulnerable so that I can receive emotional and spiritual help. Father, may this person live on through treasured memories, photos, videos, and correspondence. Father, I'm going to go through various stages of grief, including denial, guilt, anger, depression, and, finally, acceptance. Please walk with me through each stage. Carry me. I can't do this on my own. I am not god but You are. Father, may their passing lead me to reflect on my own mortality. May I examine my own life and character and relationship with You. May it lead to confession of my rebellion and a genuine repentance and surrender to You. There will be peace and contentment when the Holy Spirit is transforming my heart. Amen.
