#94 - I Wish I Was Someone Else
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I don't like who I am. I don't like my looks, my personality, my name, or where I am in life. I look at the people around me and their lives are so much better than mine. They have things I wish I had. They've achieved things I wish I had achieved. They do things I wish I could do. My life is one big failure. I wish I was someone else. I wish I was born into a better family. I wish I was born with more talent. I wish I was born with a better body, perhaps even a body of the opposite gender. Father, the truth is that my words reveal that I am in rebellion from You. I have rejected Your Word that has told me that I was made in Your image and that I am deeply loved by You. I have rejected the measures that You most value in human beings, things like love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, perseverance, and kindness. I have rejected Your command to focus my thoughts on how I can love You and others. I measure my life according to worldly standards of wealth, influence, pleasure, and power. I have rejected the power of God to transform my life, turning me into a man or woman who is a blessing to hurting people in my community. I have rejected the amazing testimony of transformation that I can become for others. Father, I have a unique blend of identity + personality + challenges + relationships + experiences + influences + resources + time + location. There has never been anyone in history with the exact same life conditions and there will never be anyone else like me in the future. This makes my story priceless to You. You can use my life as evidence to prove there are a vast number of unique and unprecedented ways by which You can transform a person. Thank You, Father, that my story is unlike any other story in history. Forgive me for my self-hate and begin a transforming work in me that turns me into a shining example of what Jesus Christ can do to transform someone's life. Amen.
