#588 - I'm Engaged
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, I am engaged. He or she is the love of my dreams. We are going to spend the rest of our lives together. We will never be lonely again. We will be best friends forever. We are going to be happily married. We will have babies. Life won't be so hard. We will have two dogs in the yard. Everything will be wonderful. Here comes all the fun - wedding and honeymoon planning. Getting a place together. Showing everyone our rings. Father, did I forget to thank You for the love in my life? Did I take You for granted? Thank You so much that I am engaged to the man or woman of my dreams. I ask now for Your blessings on our planning. I am inviting You to sit at the table with us and help us choose a date, the photographer (videographer), a reception hall, the church, the music, the DJ, the bridal party, and the guest list. I ask that You help us plan the honeymoon. I ask that You show us how to honor You in the wedding. Father, there are things that can go wrong during an engagement. Tension. Stress. The different expectations of parents, in-laws, siblings, friends, and relatives. We ask that You protect our love and the unity of the growing family. Father, most importantly, I ask that my fiance and I will draw closer to You. May we surrender our lives and our marriage to Your authority. We ask for forgiveness for the rebellion in our lives and ask You to change our ways. We ask that the fruit of the Holy Spirit will transform our hearts, making both of us more and more like Your Son, Jesus Christ. We ask that our wedding will truly be a day that honors You. Amen.
