#607 - I Will Be Parenting my Grandchild
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, I don't want to complain. I know the great responsibility and honor it is to nurture and train my grandchild. With Your strength and wisdom, I can give them the love, understanding, and training I know they will need for a blessed life. I can make sure to teach them the blessings they will receive when they surrender themselves to You. However, I never asked to be a parent again. I'm their grandparent. I raised my own children. I've already done the newborn, toddler, nursery school, elementary school, middle school, high school, and college thing. This is the time for retirement. This is the time for downsizing, moving into a retirement community. This is the time for travel. This is the season for my spouse and I to enjoy time alone again after decades of serving the needs of our children. Now, our child has left us with our grandchild to raise. This isn't a night of babysitting. We are talking twenty more years of our lives given to the raising of a child. This is a huge life-altering sacrifice. Father, we cannot handle this without You. We need Your resources, Your strength, and Your wisdom every hour of every day. We ask that You please lead our grandchild to an early committed relationship with You. Please consider our age and how hard it will be for us to care for a rebellious child. Father, do a miracle for us that at an early age that they might surrender their life to You. They will then be a delight to raise and care for. They may even be compassionate and kind to their grandparents. Father, please help us. Amen.
