#741 - I Live in a Wealthy Neighborhood
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, I am blessed to live in a wealthy neighborhood. Crime is low. There are no gangs roaming the street. Every property is immaculately taken care of. It's safe to walk the streets. However, there is a different threat in our neighborhood. It's the silent killer - rebellion from God. We think we are self-made. We made ourselves wealthy. We don't need You because we have everything we need in our bank account. We will do whatever we want whenever we want to do it because we can afford to do so. We live to increase our wealth and our prestige. Father, forgive me for falling into the trappings of wealth. My heart needs to serve the poor and the needy. My home needs to be known as the home where the residents volunteer in local charities. May my home set the example for other people in the community. May we be the voice of conscience, that the wealthy have a responsibility to care for the poor. Father, even in wealthy communities there are insecurities, anxieties, and dysfunction. The wealthy experience adversity and they need the love of God. There is a place for ministry right in the heart of this exclusive community. Father, may our home be the refuge for all in the community whose hearts are heavy. I confess my rebellion and surrender my life to You. You are God and I am not. May Your Holy Spirit bear great fruit in my life, goodness that attracts my neighbors to my home. May they share their concerns and may I minister to them through Your Word, prayer, and godly counsel. May my neighbors join me in volunteering for the needy, believing it is better to give than to receive. Amen.
