#243 - I Am Intimidated - Part 1
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I am intimidated by something I must do. It scares me. I am quite certain I don't have the character, the stamina, the skills, or the expertise to get this project done. I'm the wrong person for the job. I don't want to add another failure to my life. I don't want to look in the mirror and see the reflection of someone who has failed again. I don't want anyone else to see my failure either. I'd rather sit on the bench than strike out at the plate. Father, failure and risking failure are a part of life. - I will strike out in life if I never step up to the plate. Nothing at all can be accomplished without risking failure. Failure is where we learn what to do differently the next time. - Everybody fails at something. Some people are good at golf but lousy at basketball. Some people can arrange multi-million-dollar international trade deals but couldn't comfort a young child in pain to save their life. - Many people fail from time to time at the thing they do best. The best batters in baseball fail to get to base two out of every three times they step up to the plate. The most successful recording artists often produce CDs that fail to attract interest. Famous Hollywood directors have a bad movie or two on their resume. - I can guarantee my failure by attempting to do something outside of Your will. While in rebellion, I'm not going to receive Your help. I won't have Your resources or Your wisdom. Failure, in this case, may be Your way of communicating "You shouldn't be doing that." Failure can be a blessing, a way of You letting me know I'm headed down the wrong track. Father, the first step is often the hardest. If we can just take that first step in something that intimidates us, the second and third steps are easier. Father, if You want me to do what intimidates me, just push me to the first step. Pull me. Just help me to take that first step. I'm confident that I will feel less intimidated thereafter. Amen.
