Dear Father, the word religious suggests following rules and regulations. That sounds so harsh and lifeless. No. I want my life to be motivated by the warmth of my relationship with God. You are real. You have character, personality, values, and emotions. You communicate, think, and act. I want to enjoy an authentic and genuine relationship with You. Change my heart so I'm no longer religious. Make me a friend of God. Amen.
