Dear Father, give me a deep passion for Your Word. Give me a longing every day to open Your Word. Father, make me curious. Who wrote this book? Why was this book written? What's going on in this chapter? How does this verse connect to the previous verse? Where is this referenced elsewhere in the Bible? What was the original Hebrew or Greek meaning of this Word? What was the culture like when this was written? What archeological proof have we found about this event? What's the background information for this story? What have various commentators written about this chapter? What can I learn about God in these verses? What can I learn about Christ? What can I learn about myself ? How does this teach me to live better? Father, give me this kind of hunger for Your Word. May I want to study Your Word alone, with my spouse, with my children, with friends, with people from church, and with my neighbors. May I meditate on Your Word throughout the day. Bring verses to mind. Help me memorize them. When I experience or observe something, may I evaluate it based on what I have read in Your Word. May Your Word change and transform me. May Your Word empower me and strengthen me. May Your Word defeat the work of temptation and the enemy in my life. Thank You, Father, for Your Word. May Your Word spread throughout the globe. May every heart that is searching for truth receive a copy of Your Word. May they open it up and may You shine Your light and truth in their eyes. May Your Word be honored throughout the earth. Amen.
