#611 - Our Baby is Growing Up
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, our baby is growing up. It seems like yesterday he or she was a little infant sleeping in the crib. Nursery school. Elementary school. Middle school. High school. Their body is transforming, appearing more and more like the adult they will soon become. They are becoming more independent, preferring to be with their friends instead of with us. They are becoming more opinionated, not hesitating to disagree with us. They are becoming experts on everything, expecting us to take notes and learn a thing or two from them. Father, we are watching before our eyes as our child matures in their rebellion from You. They know what they want in life and they now believe they can do and say as they please. Father, despite all the years of Sunday School and youth group, we aren't hearing them speak of their love for You other than mere platitudes. They aren't speaking of their surrender of their life to You. We aren't seeing the fruits of the Holy Spirit. We are worried for his or her future. What trouble is their stubborn heart going to create for themselves? How will they need adversity to wake them up to their spiritual need? Father, please be merciful to them. Please don't let them go down a path that leads to destruction. Grab a hold of them now before it is too late. Gently put them back on the right path. May their adult life be one of deep love for You and others. May they make this world a better place by touching lives by the amazing character You build in them. Father, rescue our baby from their own foolishness. Amen.
