#170 - I'm Having Surgery
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I am scheduled for surgery and I am nervous. Many things could go wrong. The surgeons could make a mistake. I might wake up from the surgery in worse condition. I might catch a serious infection. What if it was misdiagnosed? Father, all I know is that when the anesthesia takes effect, I will black out. I will have no idea what is going on in the world. I will have no idea what the medical team is doing to me. I will be unable to protect myself. Father, I will be totally at Your mercy. You will control every move the medical team makes. You will guide what medications they give me. You will guide what they do with their hands. You will guide the anesthesia. You will watch over my heart and lungs. You will watch over my bleeding. You will watch over my brain. Father, I am in good hands. If something does go wrong it's because You allowed it. Everything will be fine. I ask You to be the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and the attending nurses. Father, every hour of my life I should live like I do when I receive anesthesia. Complete total dependency upon You. Father, in the event I may die in this surgery, I confess that I have been my own god. I have doubted You. I have worshipped other gods. I have been a rebel. Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty of my rebellion. He paid the price for my sin so that I can be with You for eternity. Father, I believe this. I am ready to come before You. Let's go to surgery. Amen.
