#26 - Your Amazing Grace
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, my clothes are tattered. My hair is disheveled. I've got stains on my shirt. I've got an odor that drives people away. My car can be heard clattering down the street from blocks away. I pull into my driveway where the weeds push through the cracks. I go into my house and climb over the bags of trash, looking for a scrap of bread I discarded in the corner the day before. My phone hasn't rung in a long time because there is no one who cares. I relieve myself in a toilet that hasn't flushed in a week. Father, this is my life. Huh? There is someone at the door. It is You. Uh, sure, yes, come on in. A hug? I stink. A longer hug? A kiss on my cheek? Are You serious? Do you want to help me clean up? You've got a plunger for the toilet? You'll help me carry the bags to the curb? You've got cleaning supplies? Are you going to dust the furniture? You need me to move my car because You have weeds to remove on the driveway? You know how to fix my car? You've got shampoo and deodorant? You've got some new clothes? You've got some groceries? Are you going to make me a meal? You want to sit down and talk about life and make plans for our friendship? Why are You doing this? Because of Your grace? Unmerited favor? You love me simply because You want to love me? You love me because You have chosen to love me? Father, forgive me for doubting You. Father, forgive me for rebelling from You. Father, forgive me for worshipping idols. Father, clean up my spirit. Clean up my emotions. Clean up my mind. Make me a new man or woman. May I knock on someone else's door tomorrow and be compassionate like You were to me today. Amen.
