#530 - I Long for Deeper Connections with People
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, I have superficial friendships with superficial conversations. Sports. Weather. Politics. Hollywood. Celebrities. Automobiles. Manicures. Pedicures. Novels. Hairstyles. Clothing. Parties. Games. Diets. "Jane did this. Bob said that. Can You believe Christine would hang out with Dave?" Father, something in my heart tells me this is all a bunch of silly nonsense. We weren't created to relate to people with such superficiality. We were created to talk with each other about You, the Creator. - We were created to talk with each other about Your character. - We were created to talk about Your deeds. - We were created to talk about Your power and sovereignty. - We were created to talk about how we are created in Your image. - We were created to talk about how deeply You love us. - We were created to share our thanksgivings and our grateful hearts. - We were created to share our hurts, weaknesses, fears, and insecurities with one another, so that we might encourage each other to be strong in You. - We were created to confess our sin to each other and to support one another in prayers of confession and repentance. - We were created to encourage each other to surrender our lives to You and to walk obediently with You. - We were created to work together to care for people in need. Father, this is the kind of meaningful connections I want with people. Forgive me of my sin. Transform my heart. Bring people into my life who also long for that kind of spiritual and emotional intimacy. May these deeper relationships inspire me to be more like Your Son, Jesus Christ. May these deeper relationships be more fulfilling. Amen.
