#534 - My Parents Are Separated
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, my parents left the home after a fight with my other parent. Moved out. He or she is staying at a hotel, with a family member, or with a friend. I know my parents have had a troubled marriage but I didn't expect this. Are they going to get a divorce? I guess so. Is this separation temporary? Will he or she come back? If so, will it be just as bad as it was before? I want my parents to reunite. I want a good family. I am angry that they didn't give me the safe and secure home I long for. Please get them back together. Please save their marriage from divorce. Please get them to put their children first. Did I do something wrong to cause them to fight like this? They have fought about parenting before. Is this my fault? While I'm trying to deal with things like school, friends, and bullies on the bus, I also must figure out ways to save their marriage. This is too much for me. I'm just a kid. I react to all this pressure and my insecurities by getting involved in self-destructive behaviors. Father, I need to be rescued from this war. I'm a domestic refugee. I need a home. I need to love and be loved. Father, I believe You are the God of miracles. You can save their marriage. Father, help me to model the extraordinary and transforming love of Christ. I confess and repent of my rebellion from You. I surrender to You. Father, direct Your Holy Spirit to give me the fruits of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, kindness, and forgiveness. May Your work in my heart lead my parents to reconsider their love. May my parent come back home. I understand they have the free will to abandon the marriage. Give me the strength to move forward spiritually and emotionally healthy even if my family is broken. Amen.
