#165 - I Have a Gambling Problem - Part 3
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God
Dear Father, I gamble because I love to imagine myself as a world-class risk taker. Everyone, look at me. I take incredible risks. I'll jump off a bridge with a bungee cord. I'll go skydiving. I'll sleep unprotected with a variety of prostitutes. Put me in a box placed into a tank of water. I'll risk the mortgage money on a bet. Father, I'm trying to deny my mortality. I'm trying to deny my vulnerability. I'm trying to deny I have limitations. I am a god. Nothing will ever affect me. I'm a daredevil, jumping across a canyon in a rocket. Father, my gambling addiction is a function of my desire to deny my human limitations. I am not going to be held back by common sense, reason, logic, wisdom, and safety. I'm going to do whatever I want whenever I want to do it. Father, forgive me of my rebellion. This attitude is a certain recipe for disaster for me. I am mortal, no matter how much I'd like to believe otherwise. Amen.
