#359 - I Have Stolen Property
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, I stole someone's property. It wasn't worth it. There is no pleasure in having the item in my possession. There is no joy. I think about the pain I've caused the owner. They are looking for it but they are unable to find it. They are now suspicious of others, especially those who had nothing to do with the theft. They now have increased anxiety, wondering what will be stolen from them next. They now must file paperwork to be reimbursed by insurance or they need to invest more of their hard-earned money to replace the item. Father, what did I gain from theft? I sold it and I've already spent the money, perhaps on drugs. It is gone. I'm overwhelmed with guilt. I'm consumed by fear of being caught and what might happen in the criminal justice system. Father, You tell us in Your Word that we are not to steal. It is one of the key commandments. Why? It is destructive to our sense of goodness. It is hurtful to others. It is rebellious from You, as we refuse to wait for You to provide us what we need. Father, please forgive me for this crime and my rebellion from You. Please help me to be strong and courageous and to confess my crime to the victim and the authorities. Please help me to come up with a solution to compensate the victim for their loss. Help me to surrender my life to You so that I will show the fruits of the Holy Spirit to others. I want to give of myself to the needs of others and not to take from them. Amen.
