Prayers
#68 - May My Appearance Honor You
Volume 1 - Prayers to Love God
Dear Father, how do we reflect the character of Jesus Christ? By our clothes? By our hairstyle? Of course not. We reflect the character of Jesus Christ by our words and actions. Father, I am to represent Christ by character traits such as love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, kindness, compassion, grace, mercy, and generosity. These traits are to be conveyed by my conduct, not by anything I wear. If I'm dressed to impress, my clothing can look like I'm all about myself, drawing attention to myself. If I'm dressed to rebel from traditional attire, my clothing can still look like I'm all about myself, drawing attention to myself. Father, may my appearance not distract people from the words of wisdom You have given me. I ask that my appearance does not distract people from the good works You have given me to do. May I want to make a "good impression" by the words that come out of my mouth and the things I do for others in Your name. May I have a character that looks attractive on me. Amen.
